Elderly woman killed in Bristol crash

BRISTOL — Emily R. Janowski, 88, of Orwell was killed in a two-car accident on state Route 45, just south of Housel Craft Road in the township Friday afternoon.

Janowski was a passenger in a car driven by Rose A. Gideon, 87, of North Bloomfield, which was northbound on Route 45 when a car driven by Milan Jankuj, 71, of Cortland traveling southbound on Route 45 crossed the center line and collided with the other vehicle, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The OSHP is continuing to investigate the accident, but alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the patrol reported.

Gideon suffered a severe injury and was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center, while Jankuj suffered a minor injury and was treated at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Janowski was pronounced dead at the scene.

St. Elizabeth Health Center had no record of Gideon on Saturday evening.
