LaBrae, Newton Falls win AAC Blue track titles
CHAMPION — LaBrae senior Anthony Walker won both hurdling events, the 100-meter dash and was a member of the winning 4x400 relay to lead the Vikings to the team title in the All-American Conference Blue Tier meet Thursday at Champion High School.
Nathan Fenstermaker (shot), Steve Woodyard (discus) and Evan Hill (200) also won individual titles for LaBrae, which beat Newton Falls 152-102.
Champion was third, followed by Girard, Campbell and Brookfield.
Girard’s Ryan DelBene won the 1600 and 3200 and was a member of the winning 4x800 relay. Other individual winners were Girard’s Tyler Day (400) and Tyler Zareva (800), LaBrae’s Evan Hill (200), Champion’s Andrew Austin (high jump) and Campbell’s Dorian Jones (long jump).
Senior Keri Kazimer won both throwing events and Destiny Prusky added a pair of hurdling wins to help Newton Falls win the girls team title.
Raquel Mayfield won the 1600 and helped the Tigers win the 4x800 relay as Newton Falls beat Girard 127-118. LaBrae was third, followed by Campbell, Brookfield and Champion.
LaBrae’s Allorian Horne won the 100 and 200, while Brookfield’s Angie Kirila (800), Girard’s Teresa Johnson (400) and Ashley Mylar (3200) and Campbell’s Brande Ellington (high jump) and Tiera Graves (long jump) won individual titles.
