Girard artist’s works displayed at gallery

NEW YORK — The oil on canvas paintings of Girard resident Tazim Jaffer will be on view through May 27 at Agora Gallery, 530 W. 25th St., Chelsea. Each painting recalls a detail encountered by the artist on her journeys around the world, studying as a cultural anthropologist. Working in the style of classical realism, Jaffer uses a traditional Academic approach to represent scenes often depicted through the eye of the folk artist. Jaffer was educated at Youngstown State and Kent State universities, and has traveled, studied and lived abroad during her life as an artist and anthropologist.
