STAFF REPORT

WARREN — The Greater Youngstown Point Inc. is having an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Rebecca Williams Community Center, 760 Main Ave. S.W., to introduce the agency and its programs to Trumbull County.

The Greater Youngstown Point, at 1555 Belmont Ave., Suite 3, Youngstown, is a nonprofit agency whose mission is to provide safe, decent, sanitary daytime shelter for the homeless that meets their needs and advocates for solutions.

The agency’s goal is to eradicate hunger and homelessness using prevention, intervention and networking support services for those in need.

During the open house, agency officials will focus primarily on Project REUNITE-Ohio, a re-entry program for both Trumbull and Mahoning counties now in its third year of operation.

This collaborative project targets ex-offenders and their families for the purpose of reunification, rehabilitation and positive integration to society of the former offender, according to an agency press release.

The primary goals are to reduce criminal behavior, recidivism, provide diversion for children of ex-offenders, and to enhance and solidify the supportive capacity of ex-offenders’ families.

Representatives from various service agencies, churches, prison ministries, community leaders and a host of other advocates and service providers have been invited to the open house.
