A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
May 9
Arrest: Police responded to a disturbance at a Girard residence and charged a man with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after saying the intoxicated man had continually sworn at police, failed to desist and pushed away from an officer trying to handcuff him.
Drugs: Officers received complaints about residents smoking marijuana in an apartment in the 500 block of Park Avenue.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Joan Avenue woman reported her granddaughter took and failed to return her car.
May 10
Theft/criminal mischief: Two people said they saw an 18-year-old Girard man jump on a vehicle’s hood near U.S. Route 422, break a mirror and steal a $150 car stereo.
Criminal damaging: Someone used a bag of dry cement mix to break a car’s window in the 100 block of North Davis Street. Also, the tires had been slashed.
May 11
Trespassing: A security guard told police he chased from a Furnace Lane business a man who had been hiding among scrap bins.
Assault: Officers answered a call in the 1200 block of South State Street and found a man covered in blood after having been assaulted. His injuries included scrapes and cuts all over his hands and face.
Assault: A woman and her 13-year-old son reported the boy had been punched in the eye during an argument with another boy near Main Street.
Criminal damaging: Someone caused $100 worth of damage to a trampoline and tossed cake at a home in the 200 block of South Davis Street.
Theft: A $1,000 computer control board, a printer and a money-bill changer were missing from a North State Street business.
Theft by deception: A Girard woman accused her son of hiding her mail and keeping part of the money she had given him to pay bills after having discovered several utility bills were past due.
May 12
Theft: Two wristwatches were missing from a residence in the 300 block of East Wilson Avenue.
Theft/damage: A vehicle in the 500 block of South St. Clair Avenue had been entered. Taken were a compact-disc player, a global positioning system device, a 1,000-watt speaker, a credit card and money.
HUBBARD
May 8
Theft: A wedding ring was removed from a home in the 200 block of Westview Avenue.
Possible fraud: A suspicious check arrived at a residence in the 300 block of Caroline Avenue.
Arrest: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant against a township man accused of failure to appear in court on traffic and drug charges.
May 9
Drugs: A traffic stop on West Liberty Street led to the arrest of a man, no information given, on charges of possession of drugs, dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
May 10
Theft: A purse was taken from a vehicle in the 800 block of North Main Street.
May 11
Fraud: A township woman was advised to contact the Ohio attorney general’s office after reporting she had gotten a check and notification that she won $250,000 and suspected it was a scam.
LIBERTY
May 8
Drugs: A 34-year-old Youngstown man was charged with possession of marijuana when, police said, 1 gram of suspected marijuana was found during a traffic stop near Fifth Avenue.
Burglary: The front door was open, though no forced entry had been made, to a Scott Lane home. Stolen were three Xbox 360 games, for a $125 loss.
Theft: A CD/DVD player and 12-inch speakers were stolen from a car in the 500 block of Aurora Drive.
Recovered property: Authorities checked on apartments in the 200 block of Colonial Drive and found a 1996 Dodge Caravan they said had been stolen at gunpoint in Youngstown.
Arrest: Officers responded to a domestic situation in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive and took into custody a Youngstown man, 49, wanted on a felony charge of failure to appear in court.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear window was broken in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue, resulting in a $300 damage estimate.
Robbery: A man leaving an apartment in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive told police two gunmen wearing black clothing — one who also had a red bandanna, the other a ski mask — demanded money, and that one of the robbers struck the victim in the face with the firearm before fleeing. Taken from the man were his car and $300, a report showed.
Theft: Someone stole 10 pairs of sample eyeglasses valued at a total of $3,000 from Belmont Eye Clinic, 3020 Belmont Ave.
Theft: An $800 broadcasting device was removed from a construction site near Tibbetts-Wick Road.
May 9
Aggravated menacing: Police responded to possible threats at a Tuttle Lane residence, where one person apparently had threatened to stab another.
May 10
Drugs: A Niles man, 28, was arrested on Motor Inn Drive on a drug-abuse charge after authorities responded to a possible overdose in the area. The man had taken heroin and prescription medications, a report said.
May 11
Auto theft: A 1991 Oldsmobile Delta 88 was stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Mansell Drive.
Theft: A man staying at a Belmont Avenue motel reported his wallet missing from his room.
Attempted auto theft: Someone in the 300 block of Goldie Road smashed a rear passenger-side vent window to a 1998 Oldsmobile Delta 88 in an effort to steal the car.
