Governor pitches schools plan on YouTube

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has launched a series of weekly video addresses on YouTube to promote his school reform plan.

Strickland posted his first talk Tuesday. He says businesses and education groups will participate in future segments.

The Democratic governor has been heavily engaged in recent days in selling his education plan as a key to Ohio’s economic revival. The plan, which includes increasing the state’s share of education funding, is being considered by a highly skeptical Republican-controlled state Senate.

The talks will continue for several weeks. They will also be posted on Strickland’s school reform Web site.
