Chaney defeats Warren Harding in Division I softball; Western Reserve advances in Div. IV

WARREN — Winning pitcher Raylin Fullerman (3-4) hit a RBI double and scored twice as Chaney High defeated Warren Harding, 7-2, in a Division I softball tournament game on Tuesday at Perkins Park.

Kara Guyer doubled while Alex McArthur had two hits for the Cowgirls (4-8), who advanced to play Boardman today at 4:30 p.m. at the Fields of Dreams.

For Harding, KaMela Bender tripled and Laura Howard doubled.

Western Reserve 4, Columbiana 0

BERLIN CENTER — Maggie Stubbs hit two doubles and scored twice for the Blue Devils (15-4) in a Div. IV sectional final.

Heather Monoski’s two hits included a triple, while Taylor Young had two hits and two RBIs.

Winning pitcher Elizabeth Srock (12-2) tossed a two-hitter, striking out 13 and walking one.

For the Clippers (7-12), Corrine Brothers and Alexis Wyatt had singles.

Poland 8, Howland 1

HOWLAND — Erin Gabriel hit a grand slam in the second inning and struck out 15 to pick up her 10th victory over the year for Poland (18-3, 5-0 AAC Red) in a regular season game.

Jenna Modic had three hits and Jessica D’Apolito had two hits and three RBIs.

Jena Debiec tripled for Howland (15-8).

Mineral Ridge 7, Crestview 1

COLUMBIANA — Elyssa Simko, Mara Bellard and Chelsea Hibler led the Rams’ 16-hit attack with three apiece in an ITCL game.

Miranda Stith and winning pitcher Brooke Brdek (3-4) doubled for the Rams (5-7, 5-6 Tier One).

For the Rebels, Kelly Peppel hit two doubles.

Campbell 15, Brookfield 4

CAMPBELL — Senior Erika Melnik pitched a three-hitter and struck out seven for Campbell, which earned its first win in the AAC Blue.

Tiffany Colon had double and single for two RBIs and the sophomore also scored twice for Campbell (2-13, 1-11).

Freshman Amelia Pagan finished with three RBIs for the Red Devils.

Stephanie VanMeter had two hits including a triple and Caroline Kusky had a single for Brookfield’s only hits. VanMeter had four stolen bases and Kusky stole two bases.

Lisbon 3, Struthers 2

STRUTHERS — Katie Snoddy’s two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning put Lisbon ahead for good and Lauren Ketchum pitched a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

Ketchum also had two hits for the Blue Devils (19-2).

Ashley Baron tossed a four-hitter and had three hits at the plate for Struthers (12-12).
