Canton police: Mother of Ohio teen IDs him as a robber
CANTON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio teenager has been charged with aggravated robbery after police said his mother identified him in a security camera video posted on a newspaper Web site.
Police say the woman saw the video of the sandwich shop robbery on the Canton Repository’s site and turned her son in.
Tevin Burnett, 17, of Canton will be tried as an adult. He was in Stark County Family Court today before being transferred to the county jail on $50,000 bond.
Police say Burnett and another male showed handguns and took $60, two employees’ coats and a cell phone in the March robbery.
In an unrelated case, Burnett admitted on Tuesday to sexually abusing an 8-year-old boy in 2007 and was sentenced to one year in the youth services system pending resolution of the robbery case.
