Beekeepers to meet
CORTLAND — The Trumbull County Beekeepers Association will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Trumbull County Agriculture Building, 520 West Main St.
Denzil St. Clair of Queen Right Colonies Ltd. will speak on swarm management. The public is invited to attend this free event. Those attending are asked to bring a food item to share, as a potluck dinner is planned for the meeting.

Route 644 resurfacing
SUMMITVILLE — The Ohio Department of Transportation will begin work Monday to resurface almost three miles of state Route 644 from the Summitville corporation line in Columbiana County to the southern Carroll County line.
Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. ODOT’s contractor for the $263,244 project is Superior Paving & Materials Inc., North Canton, and the tentative completion date is May 30.
Litter cleanup in Warren
WARREN — The Southwest Neighborhood Association along with other groups and residents of the South Side will have a community cleanup beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the corner of Oak Street and Highland Avenue. Bring rakes and other garden tools. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided.

Sewer funding sought
WARREN — The Trumbull Planning Commission has applied for federal stimulus money to fund sanitary-sewer projects in Brookfield, Howland and Weathersfield townships.
The three projects are on Bedford Road in Brookfield for $236,647, in the Bolindale area of Howland for $134,873, and on Gilbert Street in Weathersfield for $295,573.
All three projects were approved by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for zero percent loans through the OEPA’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund, but the agency recommended the commission also apply for stimulus money, said Bill Miller, commission director.
Fund to pay for Y’s roof
WARREN — The YWCA Warren, 375 N. Park Ave., will receive $20,000 to repair the roof over the YWCA’s Community Room from the Youngstown Foundation’s Mahoning Valley Sports Charities Fund.
Shari Harrell, YWCA executive director, said that hundreds of people attend programs each week in the community room from numerous community and faith-based organizations. The room is also used for parties and family events, Harrell said.
Willard K-8 School event
WARREN — The city school district will have a grand opening and dedication ceremony for the new Willard K-8 School, 2020 Willard Avenue Southwest, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
School board members, as well as local dignitaries, building contractors and architects will attend. Tours and refreshments will follow the ceremony.
Willard is the third of five new buildings being constructed by the district as part of an Ohio School Facilities Commission project.
Suicide awareness
WARREN — A Survivors of Suicide Awareness Walk will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Trumbull County Courthouse Gazebo.
This walk is in memory of loved ones who died by suicide. Families, friends and the public are invited to attend and urged to bring photos or signs to highlight the loss of loved ones.
This event is sponsored by Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide, Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc., and Survivors of Suicide. For further information, call Help Hotline at (800) 427-3606.
