Mountaineers win 6-2

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Penguin senior John Koehnlein had at least two hits for the fifth straight game but the YSU baseball team fell at West Virginia 6-2 in a storm-shortened game.

Koehnlein went 2-for-3 with an RBI bunt single in the fourth that cut YSU’s deficit to 3-2.

The Mountaineers worked out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the fifth and went on to score three times in the bottom half.

That was the final inning as lightning first delayed the game then forced its cancelation.

Koehnlein has 12 hits in his last five games, and he’s had at least two hits in nine of the last 12 games.
