BOARDMAN — Township police are investigating two separate incidents of road rage over the weekend.
According to police, a 26-year-old township man called police to say he had been assaulted Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store on Doral Drive.
The man told police he had been sitting in his car in the parking lot waiting for a spot to open up when a woman from another car came up to his vehicle screaming and demanding that he move.
The man said the woman began to slap him about the face and head before getting back in another car and leaving the area.
Reports say the woman was in a car driven by another female. Wal-Mart security captured video of the incident and will be supplying that information to police, according to the report.
An incident of road rage Sunday morning went beyond words or a slap in the face when one man pulled out a gun and pointed it at another driver.
According to police, a 46-year-old Western Reserve Road man said he was driving in the area of U.S. Route 224 and Market Street when he may have cut off a driver in another vehicle.
The man said the other driver began to follow him and eventually pulled alongside his car and pointed a handgun.
The man said he pulled into the parking lot of a home-improvement store on Southern Boulevard and proceeded to go inside, but the angry driver followed him on foot still displaying the firearm tucked in his waistband.
The Western Reserve Road man was in the home-improvement store about 40 minutes before telling store personnel about the situation, reports said.
Store employees called police.
The store has video surveillance and also will be supplying the information to police.
