Swimming lessons at Borts

YOUNGSTOWN — Day-care centers, church camps, neighborhood groups or sports teams that would like to schedule private swimming pool sessions at Borts Pool on the city’s West Side should call the Youngstown Park Department during business hours at (330) 742-8711.

The swimming pool opens June 17 and closes Aug. 12. The cost is $1 for patrons under 18 and $1.50 for patrons 18 and older.

Call now to schedule individual or multiple private swimming sessions for summer recreation programs.

Poland Library book sale

POLAND — The Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County have scheduled a book sale for May 18-23 at the bookstore in the Poland Library.

Proceeds benefit all public libraries in the county.

The bookstore is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.

Computers to be donated

LISBON — Twenty-four fire departments in Columbiana County will get a used computer compliments of the Columbiana County Department of Jobs & Family Services and the county’s Emergency Management Agency.

Eileen Dray-Bardon, head of the J&FS, and Tim Long, deputy director of the county EMA, said this week that the social service agency was getting rid of a number of older flat-screen computers.

The computers will be given to local fire departments that need them.

Long said the computers are, “pretty much an upgrade from what they had before.”

The J&FS information was erased from the computers to prevent exposure of clients’ personal and financial histories.
