Student pianists to perform at awards recital at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN — Eleven of 25 piano students who participated in the Youngstown State University-Youngstown Music Teachers’ Association masters piano competition Saturday will present their winning selections during an awards recital at 2:30 p,m. Sunday in Bliss Hall.

The event, which is free and open to all, will feature students at various levels.

Performing will be:

UPre-A, kindergarten through third grade: Kate Li, daughter of Frank Li and Teresa Ren of Warren, and Luke Fulton, son of Jeff and Tina Fulton of Poland.

UA, fourth through sixth grades: David Shon, son of Inwha Shon and Euntlee Lee of Boardman.

UB, seventh through ninth grades: Dominic DeLaurentis, son of Dom and Jackie DeLaurentis of Boardman; Sarah Shon, daughter of Inwha Shon and Euntlee Lee of Boardman; Olivia Roy, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. P. Roy of Canfield; and Lindsay Kirkham-Olsen, daughter of Melanie Olsen and Thomas Kirkham of Boardman.

UC, 10th through 12th grades: Jessica Shearer, daughter of Reggie and LeeAnn Shearer of Wampum, Pa.; Ellyanna Kessler, daughter of Sanford and Chaya Kessler of Youngstown; and Marie Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Adams of Girard.

UD, concerto division: Jessica Shearer.

Piano teachers represented were Joan Cosgrove, Diane Debiec, Fanny DiDomenico and Cristin Vimmerstedt.

Professor Tedrow Perkins was chairperson. Cynthia Evans is YTMA president.
