Horvaths reaffirm marriage vows for 50th anniversary

STRUTHERS — Mr. and Mrs. Frederick E. Horvath, 427 Geneva Ave., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 3.

At a noon Mass said by Monsignor Michael Cariglio at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the couple reaffirmed their marriage vows. A luncheon for invited guests followed at Antone’s Banquet Center in Boardman. Today, a marital blessing is to be bestowed by Father Nicholas Mancini at St. Stephen of Hungary Church.

Hosts of the celebration are the couple’s children and their spouses: Fred Horvath Jr. and Kelly Becker, of Struthers; Rick and Sandi Horvath of Poland; Anthony and Cheryl Horvath of Struthers; and Valerie and Bill Sandora of Tallmadge.

The Horvath family includes seven grandchildren: Anthony John, Zachary, Shawna, Christine, Tara, Anthony Rocco and Alicia; and one great grandchild, Sidney.

Mrs. Horvath, a homemaker, is a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.

Mr. Horvath retired in 1993 as a shipper at WCI Steel in Warren. He is a member of Knights of Columbus 4224, VFW 3538 and the Holy Name Society. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in Salzburg, Austria.

Mrs. Horvath, the former Louise Fumi, married Mr. Horvath on May 9, 1959 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Both are members of St. Stephen of Hungary and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
