Thursday’s baseball games


Canfield 11, Niles 2

CANFIELD — Jared Turocy blasted two home runs, a double and a single to drive in eight runs to power Canfield (15-1, 5-0 All-American Conference Red Tier). Turocy hit a solo shot and a three-run homer, a bases-loaded double for three RBIs and a RBI single. Jake Kucek slammed a two-run homer and Nick Reinthaler had two singles to aid the Cardinals.

Lakeview 11, Hubbard 7

CORTLAND — Anthony Franko had a double, two singles and two RBIs. Nick Massacci had two singles and two RBIs while Logan Massacci had two RBIs to lead Lakeview (6-12, 5-2 AAC White). Sam Jenkins got the mound win. Mike Starr had two doubles and two RBIs for Hubbard (13-7, 7-1). Bo Slemons cracked a home run.

Mooney 9, Columbiana 4

YOUNGSTOWN — Colin Hart had two doubles for Mooney, which had a five-run third inning. Ed Reese and Owen Timlin added a double apiece and Dan Eich had an RBI for the Cards (13-3). Timlin and Boo Vazquez both finished with two hits for the winners. Travis Denmeade had a double and single and Matt Wise had two hits for Columbiana (16-4). Josh Harold doubled for the Clippers.

Warren JFK 9, Chaney 3

STRUTHERS — Nick Brown’s three hits included a triple and drove in three runs for the Eagles (7-10, 1-4 Steel Valley Conference). Brendan Cox’s three hits included a double and he scored twice. Matt Joseph had two hits and Alex Cuckovich drove in three runs. For the Cowboys (4-15), Kevin Boris had two hits including a double and he scored twice. Dan Fanzo had two hits and two RBIs.

Jackson 8, Boardman 2

BOARDMAN — Sean Paul’s base-loaded double knocked in three runs in the fifth inning for Jackson (16-3, 8-2 Federal League). Senior Kevin McCulloh and junior Rob Boyd had two hits apiece for Boardman (11-6, 4-3).

GlenOak 8, Fitch 5

AUSTINTOWN — Senior Ricky Segesto had a home run and double for Fitch (10-6, 5-5 Federal). Junior Chris Miller had two singles and junior Josh Foster had two RBIs for the Falcons. Tommy Monnot had three RBIs and T.J. Sutton had two hits and scored twice for GlenOak (13-6, 6-3).

McDonald 4, Sebring 3

McDONALD — McDonald out-hit Sebring, 16-6, but needed eight innings to win. Alex Baker’s bases-loaded single scored Mike Gatta with no outs for the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the eighth. Baker, a senior, had three singles and two RBIs for the Blue Devils (11-2, 10-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two). In the eighth, Gatta walked, Zach Puntel got a base hit and Anthony Raschilla was hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Travis Irwin had two hits for Sebring.

Jackson-Milton 3, Newton Falls 2

NORTH JACKSON — Zach Nagy’s fielder’s choice pushed across Josh Tanner in the second inning to account for the eventual go-ahead run for Jackson-Milton (4-17). Pelyak had a double and single for Newton Falls in the game in which both teams had five hits.

Salem 9, United 7

HANOVERTON — Salem’s Nick Lesky and United’s Bubba Creer each had a home run and reliever Alex Whinnery (1-1) pitched five innings of four-hit ball for the win for the Quakers (4-14). Dan Fortney knocked in three runs for Salem, while Dan Gagnon had two RBIs for the winners. Creer scored twice, while Josh McLaughlin, Jeremy Walker, Jenson Sneltzer, Josh Miller and Taylor Phillips all scored once for United (6-10).
