Police seek person who fired gun in dispute

GIRARD — City police are looking for the person who fired several shots into the air after a dispute over a food-stamp card.

According to police, a resident in the Hillcrest Trailer Park told officers she had borrowed the food-stamp card of a friend who was sick in order to purchase groceries for the friend.

She said she was in the shower when the friend called and asked for the card back.

The woman told officers her friend, along with another man and a woman, came to her home Tuesday afternoon to get the card.

When she did not answer the door, she said, one member of the three fired several shots into the air before leaving. Police found two shell casings in the area.
