Man gets life imprisonment in Cleveland-area park slaying

CLEVELAND (AP) — An ex-convict has been sentenced in Cleveland to life in prison for fatally attacking a woman with a rock while she walked her dog in a suburban park.

Todd Torok, 42, of Parma was sentenced Thursday. He had pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in last year’s slaying of 52-year-old Chevonne Ecclestone of Strongsville and to attacking another woman earlier in the day.

A three-judge panel accepted a plea deal that spared him a possible death penalty.

Torok had been released from prison 10 days before the attacks after serving two years for robbery and drug possession.
