Firefighters pull intoxicated man from Lake Newport
BOARDMAN — Firefighters are still trying to determine why a 37-year-old man jumped into Lake Newport somewhere near Lanterman’s Mill Friday afternoon.
Joe Rosky, Boardman Fire Department assistant chief, said firefighters Tom Donadee and Gary Houser jumped in after the man, who was intoxicated, and pulled him out of the water before he reached the waterfalls at Lanterman’s Mill.
Fire Capt. Ron Russ said Youngstown responded to the scene with a motorized rubber raft as backup.
The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center by ambulance.
