Men prepare for plant sale
Special to The Vindicator
BLOSSOM TIME: It is blossom time at the MASCO greenhouse, at the corner of South Avenue and Bev Road in Boardman, which has been turned into a gigantic flower garden by the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown.
It will also be the setting for the 2009 spring plant sale to be conducted by members of the club from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 15-17 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Offered will be a wide variety of annuals, vegetables, herbs, hanging bags and hanging baskets. Plants in six packs will be sold for $2.25, and flats of 36 plants will be $11.95.
Making sure one of the floral arrangements is in perfect condition for the sale is John Schinker, a member of the club.
Proceeds will benefit MRDD at MASCO, the Leonard Kirtz School, The Centre at Javit Court and Youngstown Streetscape, and provide horticulture scholarships.
