hClub plans its annual Close-Up Magic Show

LIBERTY — The Youngstown Magic Club’s annual Close-Up Magic Show will be at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. May 17 at the Metroplex Hotel, on Belmont Avenue. Tickets are $5 and can be ordered by calling Nick Verina at (330) 307-4928 or e-mailing merlin44446@yahoo.com.

Four magicians will perform in each of three rooms. The featured magician is Michael P. Lair, five-time winner of the national magic competition in Columbus.

Chuck Wicks to perform at Columbiana fair

LISBON — Country singer Chuck Wicks will perform during the Columbiana County Fair at the grandstand Aug. 4 with special guest band Savannah Jack.

Wicks and his dance partner/girlfriend, Julianne Hough, have been competing on the TV show “Dancing with the Stars” for the past eight weeks. His hits include “Stealing Cinderella,” “All I Ever Wanted,” and his new single, “Man of the House.”

Savannah Jack, featuring local country singer Don Gatlin, will open the concert, which will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale June 1 at columbianacountyfair.org.

The fair will run from Aug. 3-9.

Stage Left Players present Broadway revue

LISBON — Stage Left Players will present “Showtime,” a Broadway revue, at 7 p.m. May 15 at Trinity Playhouse, 234 W. Lincoln Way.

The evening will include a Chinese “slave” auction, with the winner receiving four hours of help, such as babysitting and lawncare — from the Stage Left youth players. The theater company’s 2009 scholarship award winner will also be announced. For reservations, call (330) 831-7249.
