Shooting deaths in Poland tonight

POLAND — The township police and Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department are awaiting word from the county coroner’s office today on a shooting in which two people died.

Poland Township police were called to a residence in the 6000 block of Styme shortly before 6 p.m., but they gave few details this evening.

A coroner’s office report is expected Thursday.

Authorities developed a staging area at a U.S. Route 224 restaurant shortly after the shooting to begin the investigation and answer questions from reporters.

A township officer said offered no details, pending notification of next of kin.
