Income tax

Ohio’s income-tax figures impacting the fiscal year ending June 30:

April income-tax revenue was $322 million, or 22 percent, below projections.

Income-tax returns for 2008 were $192 million, or 22 percent, below estimates.

January 2009 income tax receipts were $45 million below estimates, Feb. 2009 receipts were $10 million above, while March receipts were $40 million below.

The current fiscal year is the only time other than 1986 in which income-tax revenue declined.

The current fiscal year is the first since at least 1982 during which Ohio’s wage and salary income declined.
