HUBBARD — Tommy Jackson’s two hits included a key double in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Eagles clinched the All-American Conference White Tier crown. With the score tied 5-5, Jackson led off the seventh inning with his double. After Todd Gasior bunted him to third, the Wildcats issued two intentional walks to load the bases. Jackson came home on Tim Schiraldi’s fielder’s choice. Schiraldi finished with three RBIs for the Eagles (13-6, 7-0) while Gasior and Kory Hopkinson each had two hits. For the Wildcats (12-6, 5-2), Joe Balog, Jake Thomas and Tyler Serich had two hits each. Balog and Brian Palmer doubled.
Campbell 8-5, Champion 6-6
CHAMPION — Campbell and Champion split a pair of game here with the Red Devils taking the opener which was a makeup from a rainout last week. Nico Magnolia went all the way for the Devils and Kyle Firm had three hits including a double. In the second game Shane Brown went the distance for the Flashes and also had two hits including a double, while Firm had two more hits as did Ron Pizzaro for Campbell (9-4).
Columbiana 13, South Range 3
COLUMBIANA — Jeff Davidson (4-0) allowed one hit in the five innings he pitched for the Clippers (16-3, 11-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier One). Travis Denmeade had two hits including a double and four RBIs while Jay Williamson drove in three runs with two hits including a double. Josh Saverko’s two hits brought home two runs for the Clippers, who are ranked seventh in this week’s state poll of Division IV teams. Also with two hits were Erik Kissel and Matt Wise. For the Raiders (10-10, 6-5), Gerrad Rohan (2-1) lost for the first time.
McDonald 14, Leetonia 2
McDONALD — Will Robison scattered four hits and struck out four as McDonald rolled past Leetonia in five innings. Mike Gatta led the Blue Devils (11-2) with three hits including a double, while Anthony Raschilla added two hits. Nick Altomare had two of the four hits for Leetonia.
Lowellville 14, Western Reserve 3
BERLIN CENTER — Brian Rossidivita hit a grand slam for the Rockets (12-8, 9-2 ITCL). Anthony Alfano had two hits and three RBIs. Also with two hits were Danta Abbas, Ray Carlson and Louis Lebron. Ryan Whinery and Lebron had doubles. Abbas struck out five and walked one. For the Blue Devils (7-3 ITCL), John Rosati doubled.
GlenOak 6, Fitch 2
CANTON — Ricky Fegesto’s three hits included a double for the Falcons (10-6, 5-4 Federal League. T.J. Sutton picked up the win for the Golden Eagles (12-6, 5-3).
Massillon Jackson 5, Boardman 4
MASSILLON — Mike Benroth had a double and single and A.J. Hirsch two singles, while Matt Rabbitt pitched a nine-hitter with seven strikeouts, to lead Massillon Jackson (15-3, 7-2 Federal League). Dan Popio had two singles and two RBIs and Pat O’Brien two singles with one RBI to lead Boardman, while Kevin McCulloh added two singles. O’Brien pitched an eight-hitter with seven strikeouts in a losing cause for Boardman (11-5, 4-2). Rabbitt and O’Brien both are 5-1.
Warren Harding 5, Akron Hoban 1
WARREN — Brad Kingery slugged a three-run homer while Zach McGee added two singles and one RBI to spark Harding. Mike McClung pitched a six-hitter with six strikeouts for the Raiders (14-1). He is 2-0. Hoban is 4-7.
Youngstown Christian 21, East 0
YOUNGSTOWN — Pat Durkin pitched a five inning two-hit shutout and also homered as Youngstown Christian rolled past East. Bob Schmid added a triple and single and John Pecchia had three singles for the Eagles (5-2).
Howland 14, Warren JFK 0
NILES — Howland unleashed an 18-hit attack with Josh Davis leading the way with three singles and three RBIs, while Adam Shrodek pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Howland (10-11) at Eastwood Field. Eric Doan had a three-run double and Joe Aulizia a two-run triple to also key Howland. JFK is 5-10.
