AUSTINTOWN — A township teen was caught taking an Apple computer tower from the old Austintown Middle School, police said.
Police arrived at the former middle school on Mahoning Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Monday to find a 15-year-old male behind the old football stadium with the equipment in his possession.
The boy told police he had entered the building by removing screws to a door on the north side of the school.
The boy was released to his mother and advised that a charge of breaking and entering could be filed once the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center reviews the case.

Police probe shooting
YOUNGSTOWN — City police are trying to determine who a group of men were and why they shot at two teens, hitting one in the buttocks.
According to police, officers were traveling along Belmont Avenue late Monday evening when the cruiser was nearly struck by another car running a red light. After officers pulled the car over, it was discovered that a passenger in the car, 18-year-old Ian Thomas of Florida Avenue, had been shot.
Thomas, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, told officers he went to visit a 17-year-old friend in the 500 block of Union Street just after 11 p.m. when three to four men showed up and started shooting at the pair.
Police recovered 16 spent shell casings from the area of the shooting.
Reports said Thomas was struck once in the buttocks and is listed in stable condition.
City man reports rape
YOUNGSTOWN — A 24-year-old city man says he was raped by a woman and he wants police to do something about it.
Officers were called Monday to the home of a man in the 100 block of Evanston Avenue on the West Side. The man told police he and a group of friends were at his home drinking and socializing Sunday evening when a 29-year-old woman, also of the city, asked him if he would like to go upstairs.
According to reports, the man told officers he was highly intoxicated but agreed to go upstairs with the woman.
The man said he refused to have sex with the woman, but she grabbed him by the neck and said, “Oh no, you’re gonna give it to me now.”
The man told officers he passed out and did not wake up until the next morning. He said the woman called him the next day and asked how it felt to be a victim of rape.
