WARREN — American Cancer Society’s Warren Relay for Life is Friday and Saturday at Courthouse Square downtown.

The Warren Relay raised about $460,000 in 2008 and has a goal of $480,000 this year, said Philip O’Hara, co-chairman of the event with Donna Shaw, Amy Perunko and Oral Polan.

The event begins with a cancer survivors lap at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at 6 p.m. Saturday. Some 1,300 survivors participated in last year’s Warren Relay, and even more are expected this year. About 100 teams of eight to 10 people are signed up to participate in the walk, O’Hara said.

This is the 25th year for the Relay for Life, which has become the cancer society’s signature event, and the 16th year for the Warren Relay.
