Softball Roundup Saturday’s games


Warren JFK 1, Champion 0

CHAMPION — After dealing with cancelled doubleheaders, Warren JFK and Champion hooked up for a game in which one run was scored. Alex Raeburn, Kim Sylvester, Rachel Pico all doubled for JFK. Raeburn, as the fourth batter of the game, knocked in Rachel Ratcliffe with two outs. Ratcliffe walked to get on base. Senior Katie Saluga, junior Morgan White and freshman Alison Sorber had a single apiece for Champion (12-3). The summary of the pitching battle between Pico and Lindsay Swipas included 11 strikeouts and no walks for Pico and six strikeouts and one walk for Swipas, a freshman.

Fitch 4-4, Niles 2-3

NILES — Heidi Soriano pitched a six-hitter with seven strikeouts and also had two singles and one RBI to lead Fitch in the opener of a doubleheader. Megan Carney and Katie O’Loughlin had two singles each to also pace the Falcons. In the second game, Amanda Callahan pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts for Fitch (5-9). Carney had two singles and two RBIs and Stephanie Berdis a double and single to also spark the Falcons. Niles is 7-11.

South Range 3, United 1

NORTH LIMA — Sophomore Gab Naples’ two-out, two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth snapped a 1-1 tie. Madison Yanek (9-4) had 12 strikeouts and one walk for South Range (12-5, 7-3 Inter Tri-County League Tier One). Brooke McCartney, Emily Bukanovich and Hillary Hoppel had two singles apiece for United (10-5, 8-3).

Mooney 6, Richfield Revere 1

ASHTABULA — Jamie Clausen pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and rapped a two-run triple and single to lead Mooney (11-5). Chrissy Porter had a double and two RBIs to help Mooney. Revere is 7-6.

Edgewood 2, Mooney 0

ASHTABULA — Mooney outhit Ashtabula Edgewood, 7-4, but left 10 runners on base. Megan Dragon pitched the seven-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Edgewood. Caddie Sheffler took the loss with a four-hitter. Jordyn Cicon rapped a single through Mooney’s drawn-in infield to drive in both runs to provide Edgewood with the win. Kelcie Herbeger and Christin Hrehor each had two hits for Mooney.

Canfield 4, Wellington 3

LAGRANGE — Melanie West and Cara Cupler hit doubles for the Cardinals who went 2-2 at the Presbis Tournament. Canfield beat Midview, 1-0. Their losses were to Uniontown Lake (16-0) and Keystone (7-2).

Jackson-Milton 10, Wellsville 1

WELLSVILLE — Lindsey Knipp pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts while Maddie Griffiths had a triple, double and five RBIs to lead Jackson-Milton (11-4, 6-2 ITCL Tier Two). Knipp, who is 10-4, also had two singles and Cat Keck a double and single to aid the Bluejays. Wellsville is 3-9 and 2-6.
