For Taylor Swift, it’s headliner time
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Country singer Taylor Swift already had the music industry taking notice of her CD “Fearless,” the year’s top-selling release so far.
Then, as if that weren’t enough, she goes and sells out arenas around the country in mere minutes.
Swift’s recent St. Louis concert sold out in less than 10 minutes; tickets for other major venues were gone in two minutes.
Taking a break from tour rehearsals recently, Swift, 19, said she wasn’t sure why demand is this strong for her tour. But she knows where a handful of those St. Louis tickets went. My family lives in St. Louis, so at least 20 tickets can be accounted for there,” says Swift.
“But as far as other cities and Madison Square Garden and the Staples Center and places that I never in my life thought I would play or sell out, I have no idea,” she says.
But if Swift had to explain it, she would credit her advisers, who insisted that she not headline shows until the time was right.
Swift will be at Wolstein Center in Cleveland on Oct. 1, and Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh on Oct. 3.
Some people have suggested that it was brokers and scalpers that caused tickets to vanish so quickly. That’s why some of her tickets started at $20.
Those who see her on this tour will catch a big, superproduced show boasting a set based on Swift’s drawings. Swift, who began conceiving the show when she was 14, says the stage will change with each song, thanks to new technology.
