WARREN — The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 34 has established an account for Warren Patrolman Doug Hipple and his family at the Warren branch of Farmer’s National Bank, 2910 Youngstown-Warren Road, Warren, OH 44484.

Donations will be accepted at any Farmer’s National Bank location. Questions concerning the account can be directed to the chief’s office at the Warren Police Department at (330) 841-2536.

Hipple was critically injured trying to rescue three women from a burning house on Bonnie Brae Avenue Northeast early Tuesday.

ODOT meeting planned

NORTH LIMA — Represent-atives from the Ohio Depart-ment of Transportation will have a meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday to discuss the intersection realignment of state routes 626 and 7.

The meeting will be at the Beaver Township administration office.

Vehicle-tax hearings

WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners have scheduled hearings on a possible vehicle- license tax that county Engineer David DeChristofaro is urging commissioners to impose or put on the ballot in November.

The first hearing will be at noon May 21 in the commissioners’ hearing room, fifth floor, Administration Building, 160 High St. N.W., Warren.

The second hearing will be at 7 p.m. May 28 in the Liberty Township Administration Building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Grow Youngstown dance

CANFIELD — Bring new or used garden tools to the Garden Tool Square and Line Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Dublin Grange Hall, 6571 Fairground Blvd.

The dance, for adults and young people, is sponsored by the Mahoning County Farm Bureau Youth to benefit the Grow Youngstown garden project, which is promoting and turning vacant city lots into vegetable gardens.

Donations of new or used garden tools and/or $5 will be requested for admission to the evening’s dance with local square dance caller Steve Moff.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus presents an “Evening with Democratic Leadership” featuring Ohio House Speaker Amond Budish with special guest Ohio Treasurer Kevin Boyce on Friday at Byzantine Center at the Grove, 3801 Shady Run Road.
