Eight from YSU named to academic honor roll
INDIANAPOLIS —Youngstown State athletic teams had eight student-athletes recognized as part of the Horizon League’s Winter Academic All-Conference teams.
Leading with the way with 16 selections was Valparaiso while Green Bay was second with 11.
Penguin student-athletes who earned all-academic honors are Olivia Arnold (swimming), Justin Dickman (track and field), Adam Kagarise (track and field), Joe Lahmon (track and field), J.D. Sheppard (track and field), Alisha Anthony (track and field), Lauren Blase (track and field) and Jen Grayson (track and field).
This is the eighth time Sheppard has been named to a Horizon League All-Academic team during his YSU career and the third in indoor track and field. Anthony and Kagarise are repeat selections. Arnold becomes just the seventh member of the swimming and diving program to earn academic all-league honors.
The Winter Academic All-Horizon League Teams are selected by the Horizon League Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale having competed at least one year at a member institution while earning at least 24 semester hours or 36 quarter-hours of credit.
