Warren firefighters’ union stages protest at City Hall
Firefighters Protest
WARREN — Warren City Professional Fire Fighters Local 204 scheduled an informational picket today at City Hall to show the Mayor Michael O’Brien administration “that it is not OK” for it to continue to cut manpower and create “an even bigger safety issue.”
Several city firefighters and police officers have been laid off because of the city’s financial problems.
Attention was called to the firefighter manpower shortage during a fire Tuesday at a group home on Bonnie Brae Avenue that injured four people, including Warren Patrolman Doug Hipple, who entered the burning home to help rescue the residents.
The picketing began at 8:30 a.m.
