Moms to be honored at appreciation event
CANFIELD — Holistic Moms Network, Youngstown Chapter, is hosting a mother appreciation event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. The public is invited to participate in the free event.

Italian group is raising funds for quake victims
CAMPBELL — The Mahoning Valley Italian Society, Inc., Tony Mannariti Lodge 001, is sponsoring a fundraiser for a cash drawing for the victims of L’Aquilla, Italy, and surrounding areas affected by an earthquake.
The tickets are $5 each and $500 will go to a lucky winner. The drawing will take place July 12 at the Campbell City Fest in Roosevelt Park.

YOUNGSTOWN — General Electric Quarter Century Club will have its 64th annual meeting, dinner and reunion May 18 at the Croatian Home on Vestal Road. Animal Welfare League schedules fashion show
BROOKFIELD — Tiffany’s Banquet Center, 601 Bedford Road, will be the setting at 1 p.m. May 31 for the 25th annual fashion show to be sponsored by the Animal Welfare League.
The theme for the event is “Fashions for Compassion” and models will wear the latest designs from Coldwater Creek, Macy’s and Dillard’s, all in the Eastwood Mall. There will be a Chinese auction, general raffle, and a 50-50 raffle.
Tickets are $35, and patrons will have a choice of four entrees. Tables of 10 are available.

Salem car cruise to aid Salvation Army program
SALEM — The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program will benefit from a car cruise, open to the public, sponsored by Ponderosa Park and BB Rooners from 1-6 p.m. May 17.
At BB Rooners, 256 E. State St., there will be food, a DJ, a Christmas tree drawing, lotto tickets and other giveaways. Features at Ponderosa Park on state Route 45, 5 miles north of Salem, will be food, a band, 50-50 drawing, cow patty bingo and giveaways.
The first 50 cars at each location will receive a dash plaque. Car cruisers and spectators can give toys and new children’s clothing (ages 1 to 12) or donate to the Angel Tree program at the Salvation Army, 1240 N. Ellsworth Ave, but it’s not a requirement to attend the event. Money raised will also be donated to the program.
