Head-on crash in Niles injures at least one person

NILES — Two fire units and the police responded to a two-vehicle accident this morning.

City police and fire departments appeared on the scene at 10:29 a.m. A woman driving a car and a man driving a pickup truck collided head-on in front of McMenamy’s Restaurant and Banquet Center on U.S. Route 422. The woman was trapped in the vehicle and the engine was on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire and extracted the woman from the vehicle with the jaws of life. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. There was no information on the male driver.

The names and conditions of both were not made available. There were no passengers in either vehicle, police said.
