Appeals court denies Demjanjuk stay of deportation

CINCINNATI (AP) — The 6th U.S. Circuit of Appeals here has denied a stay of deportation to Germany of alleged death camp guard John Demjanjuk.

Pending a further appeal, the ruling today opens the way for the Justice Department to deport the 89-year-old retired autoworker from his suburban Cleveland home.

An arrest warrant in Munich alleges he was a guard at a death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland in 1943.
