Broadway stars will lend their voices to symphony


The three will sing selections from a number of musicals.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra concludes its Pops Series Saturday with a concert entitled “Legendary Broadway Musicals,” featuring three Broadway stars.

Melissa Errico, Debbie Gravitte and Sal Viviano will accompany the orchestra on tunes such as “Together Wherever We Go” from “Gypsy”; “I Could Have Danced All Night” and “The Street Where You Live” from “My Fair Lady”; “Before the Parade Passes By” from “Hello, Dolly!”; and “All That Jazz” from “Chicago.”

Broadway’s current shows will be represented with a medley from “Mamma Mia” and the revival of “Guys and Dolls.” Songs will include “If I Were a Bell,” “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” and “Adelaide’s Lament.”

A salute to the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber will include music from “Cats,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Evita” and “Phantom of the Opera.”

Each of the three vocalist guests is an accomplished Broadway performer.

Errico was nominated for a Best Actress Tony Award for her work in “Amour” and starred as Cosette in “Les Miserables” and Eliza Doolittle in the “My Fair Lady” revival.

Gravitte won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in Jerome Robbin’s “Broadway” and has appeared in Broadway productions of “They’re Playing Our Song,” “Zorba,” “Chicago” and “Les Miserables.”

Viviano made his Broadway debut in “The Three Musketeers” and went on to star in “Romance/Romance,” “City of Angels,” “Falsettos,” “The Life” and “The Full Monty.”
