Benefit dishes out 4,000 spaghetti dinners for Greenford family

BOARDMAN - More than 4,000 spaghetti dinners were sold during the two-day Tom Driscoll Benefit dinner in St. Charles Church’s social hall, which far exceeded the goal of 3,000.

Overwhelming generosity and support from Youngstown, Boardman and surrounding communities toward the Greenford family were the main reasons for the huge turnout Saturday and Sunday, said Tony Provenzale, one of the event’s coordinators.

Provenzale also thanked the church and volunteers for their response and contributions.

Driscoll, a compliance director for a Jersey City, N.J., company, was traveling to New Jersey the evening of Jan. 25 when he was in a traffic accident on icy eastbound Interstate 80 near the Ohio-Pennsylvania line. The accident left him in a coma.

The couple has 14 children ages 4 to 24.
