HELPING POLICE

Essence Williams, 14, of Austintown, was hit by a car while crossing Orkney Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. Monday. The car left the scene.

The car: Silver or gray, two-door compact with a back spoiler and damage to the right front side. Possible burned rubber or oil smell when running.
