Austintown man jailed in gross sexual imposition

A hearing is set for Monday.

WARREN — An Austintown man who works at a Howland drive-through store was in Warren Municipal Court earlier this week because of a charge of gross sexual imposition filed against him.

On Thursday, police said he victimized a second young woman. Now he will remain behind bars until at least Monday.

Imad M. Elsayed, 43, of Deer Creek Court, is in Trumbull County Jail without eligibility to make bond after his second arrest on the charge in a month.

Judge Terry Ivanchak set a hearing for 2 p.m. Monday to set a new bond amount.

Elsayed waved a preliminary hearing on the first charge Wednesday and was bound over to a Trumbull County grand jury and was released on bond.

If convicted, he could get up to 18 months in prison.

That charge stemmed from a complaint by a 19-year-old Vienna woman who said she drove into the business at 1903 Niles-Cortland Road on Feb. 24 to get cigarettes.

Elsayed told the woman to get out of her car and come into the office to get the cigarettes, and that is where she was sexually assaulted, said Detective Nick Roberts of the Howland Police Department.

After that incident, several other women called Howland police to lodge similar complaints about Elsayed, but none of them came to the police station to lodge a formal complaint, Roberts said.

At about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old Cortland woman drove into the business to get merchandise, Roberts said.

The woman told police Elsayed groped her through the window of the car when he returned with the merchandise, Roberts said.
