Sex sting

NEW WATERFORD — A man from Gowanda, N.Y., faces a 10-year mandatory minimum federal prison term after being caught here in an Internet sex sting March 1, police said.

Mark Wayne Miller, 40, came to New Waterford thinking he was going to engage in sex with a 13-year-old girl and her mother, police said. He was actually communicating with New Waterford Police Chief Daniel A. Haueter, who continues to make Internet sex stings.

Miller was arraigned earlier this week before a U.S. Magistrate in federal court.

Police made the announcement this week. Miller is accused of traveling to Erie Pa., and then to New Waterford, where he was arrested.
