Pastors’ Council plans annual MLK memorial service


YOUNGSTOWN — The Baptist Pastors’ Council of Youngstown will have its annual memorial service to commemorate the assassination of civil rights leader the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. April 3 in Mahoning County Courthouse’s rotunda.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Michael H. Harrison Sr., president of Ohio Baptist State Convention, pastor of the Union Baptist Church and community leader.

Musical selections will be presented by Eagle Heights Academy Gospel Choir directed by Mark Jackson.

The Martin and Corretta Scott-King Scholarship recipients for 2009-10 also will be announced. They are students at Youngstown State University.
