HARDING LIVE | First quarter thoughts

Columbus Northland leads Warren Harding 22-9 after one.

- The Vikings have shot 9 of 12 from the floor with six second-chance points. They've made just 2 of 6 from the line, which has helped. But still. ...

- Harding has made just 4 of 13 with four turnovers. Even worse, the Raiders' defense has no answer for Northland.

- Before the game, they introduced Northland's coach as Satch Sullivan. His last name is actually Sullinger, which is the same last name as his son Jared, who just happens to be Mr. Basketball.

Oops.

- When Jared Sullinger was introduced (correctly), one of his teammates mimicked giving him a pat-down (like you might get at the airport), then did some fake jabs to the stomach. It seemed a little weird but, hey, maybe it's just me.

- From the "Things only I would notice", the Raiders appear to be playing with some new Nikes. White with a nice gray stripe. As an astonishing coincidence, I sold shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods in college.

- Sullinger hit his first shot, a 3-pointer, and stuck his tongue out as he ran down the floor.

- Harding coach Steve Arnold brought in Isiaha Henderson with five minutes left in the first quarter and the Raiders immediately trapped and forced a turnover. Other than that, the Raiders' defense hasn't had much of an answer for the Vikings so far.

- Desmar Jackson and Jared Sullinger exchanged some trash talking with about a minute left in the quarter. Both guys have come to play. Jackson's been the biggest bright spot in the first eight minutes for Harding.
