Struthers teen to sing at Thunder home opener

STRUTHERS — Tara Horvath, a senior at Struthers High School, will sing the National Anthem for the Mahoning Valley Thunder’s home opener on Friday.

Horvath has been selected as a representative of Ohio to travel with The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus, a concert band and chorus comprising high school students from all over the country. It is a federally registered not-for-profit organization.

Her tour will begin this summer. After two rehearsal periods in Carlisle, Pa., and two bon voyage concerts, the group will travel to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Luxembourg and France, to perform in some of the great concert halls of Europe.

Horvath’s performance experience includes her participation in show choir for four years, honors choir for three years, solo and ensemble for three years, New Castle Playhouse workshop, community recitals, Dana School of Music clinic, and five years of voice lessons. She is planning to attend The Dana School of Music in the fall.
