N.Y. man arrested in New Waterford on Internet sex sting

NEW WATERFORD — A man from Gowanda, N.Y., faces a 10-year mandatory minimum federal prison term after being caught here in an Internet sex sting on March 1.

Mark Wayne Miller, 40, came to New Waterford thinking he was going to engage in sex with a 13-year-old girl and her mother.

He was actually communicating with New Waterford Police Chief Daniel A. Haueter, who continues to make Internet sex stings.

Miller was arraigned earlier this week before a U.S. magistrate in federal court.

Joseph Alessi, the police chief of Gowanda, Laurie J. Bennett, special agent in charge of the FBI field office in Buffalo, N.Y., and Haueter announced the arrest this week.

Miller is accused of traveling to Erie Pa., for a dinner and then came here, where he was arrested.
