Youngstown firefighters investigating cause of South Side vehicle fire

YOUNGSTOWN — A burning vehicle caused damage to a city home early this morning.

Firefighters responded to a burning pickup truck in the driveway of a Taylor Street house on the South Side just before 2:30 a.m. Strong winds caused flames to spread to the home’s exterior. Flames damaged an exterior wall, attic space and eaves on the structure, which also suffered water damage to its ceilings.

The occupants, three adults, were outside when firefighters arrived. The occupants said they heard an explosion or thought it could be thunder.

Damage was set at $5,000 for the home and $1,000 for the truck. The cause and source of the fire is under investigation.
