Speakers will discuss use of solar energy

CHAMPION — Two speakers knowledgeable about solar thermal energy collection systems will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at a meeting of the Clean Energy Network at Kent State University Trumbull Campus. The meeting will be in Lecture Hall A of the Administration/classroom building

Dan Quinlan of Energy Detectives in Salem will explain how solar thermal works and what is involved in a typical installation. In addition, Quinlan will provide examples of energy savings that can be expected and help attendees determine if solar thermal is appropriate for their situations.

Also speaking will be Athan Barkoukis, Northeast Ohio program manager for Green Energy Ohio, who will explain GEO’s new rebate program for solar-thermal installations. Barkoukis will provide background information about installer training opportunities sponsored by Green Energy Ohio and four Ohio community colleges.
