This week marked two significant events in Greek history. The Greek revolution began March 25, 1821, as Greeks rose up against the Ottoman Empire that had occupied Greece for 400 years. March 22, 1829, marks the day of the creation of the modern Greek state. The Feast of the Annunication is Wednesday on the Orthodox calendar.
