2 Valley foundations team up to join agency

YOUNGSTOWN — Two local foundations have formed a partnership to join the Fund for Our Economic Future, a regional economic development agency.

The Raymond John Wean Foundation and the Community Foundation of Mahoning Valley are contributing a total of $100,000 to the Cleveland-based fund, which serves 16 counties in Northeast Ohio. Joel Ratner, the Wean Foundation’s president, will be the local representative to the fund.

The fund has raised more than $55 million since 2004 to support issues such as business attraction and growth, talent development and government collaboration.

Time.com exec to conduct presentation, 2 workshops

YOUNGSTOWN — Craig Duff, director of multimedia for Time.com, will present workshops and a public presentation for The Center for Working-Class Studies and the journalism department at Youngstown State University.

His presentation is called, “A Story is a Story is a Story: Reporting across Platforms.”

Duff will teach the basics of multimedia reporting in two daylong workshops.

Workshop participants will learn how to shoot and edit video, how to develop multimedia stories and what it takes to capture audiences.

The workshops will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Fedor Hall. Reservations can be made at ajlenhoff@ysu.edu.

A public presentation will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at McKay Auditorium at the school of education.
