Boardman man jailed after couple say they were held against their will


BOARDMAN — A township man is in the Mahoning County jail after two people told police they were assaulted, robbed and held against their will.

Vincent M. Atwood II, 27, of 6664 Millcreek Blvd., is charged with two counts of felonious assault, two counts of abduction and one count of robbery in an episode that happened about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A man, 26, told police he and a woman arrived at 34 Crestline Place about 11:15 p.m. He said Atwood asked him to go into a bedroom, where he shut the door.

The male victim told police he tried to leave the room after about 20 minutes but was met with resistance from Atwood. He said he was grabbed by the throat, thrown to the ground and choked. The victim said he was repeatedly punched in the face as he yelled for help.

The female victim, 20, and two other men came into the room after they heard him yelling. The two men then left the room, but the female victim attempted to help and was pushed onto the ground several times by Atwood, police were told.

Thye male victim alleged Atwood then closed the bedroom door and held the two victims against their will, assaulting them and threatening them with a screwdriver for nearly two hours.
