WARREN — The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra will mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America with its concert Saturday at Packard Music Hall.

The gala program — titled “Swing into Spring!” — will feature music from around the world, including high-spirited Slavonic dances, Ravel’s Bolero, Strauss marches and waltzes, Mozart dances and selections from “Fiddler on the Roof.”

“The music is full of excitement, and many of these are pieces people already know and love, even though they may not know their titles,” said Susan Davenny Wyner, conductor and music director of the WPO. “That’s half the fun!”

Leaders from the scouting community will be recognized along with the scouts as part of anniversary celebration. Tickets are free to all scouts who are in uniform (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Eagle Scouts) and are reduced for their families.

“The Philharmonic is proud to honor our scouts and future leaders of our community,” said Wyner. “It’s important to celebrate what’s wonderful in our area and to draw together — especially when times are hard.”

Concertgoers are asked to bring nonperishable food items to help those in need. The Philharmonic is one of many orchestras nationwide joining together to help their communities by gathering food for the Orchestras Feeding America food drive.

“This is an important time for us to reach out to those in our community who are going through difficult times,” said Wyner.

Containers will be placed at Packard to collect the goods, which will be distributed to residents in need.
