Spring program for kids

MERCER, Pa. — Munnell Run Farm, on Pa. Route 58W one mile north of Mercer, will have its annual spring program series for children ages 3-5 on consecutive Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 8-29.

All programs feature hands-on outdoor activities that are age-level appropriate. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

All programs are by pre- registration only, and permission slips are required. The cost of each program is $2 per child and may be paid the day of the visit.

Beaver memorial bricks

NORTH LIMA — The Beaver Township Park Board has extended the deadline for ordering memorial bricks to decorate the flagpole area at Woodworth Park. Brick orders are being accepted through April 15, and order forms are available at the township administration office.

Bricks can contain up to three lines, 13 characters per line, in a 4-by-8-inch space. The cost of each brick is $35.

The park board started the program about four years ago and since then has provided several opportunities for individuals, families or groups to buy the bricks.

Additionally, individuals or groups interested in planting trees for memorials or special occasions at the Beaver Township Nature Preserve or Woodworth Park can obtain more information about the process by contacting the park board. The park board can provide guidelines on the appropriate trees to buy and where they can be placed.

‘Passport Day in USA’

YOUNGSTOWN — The U.S. Postal Service is joining the State Department on Saturday to celebrate “Passport Day in the USA.”

The national passport acceptance and outreach event will include passport fairs at hundreds of post offices nationwide. Customers will be able to apply for passports and get additional information.

Effective June 1, 2008, citizens must present a passport book, passport card or other travel document approved by the U.S. government to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Bermuda at land borders and seaports of entry.

Trumbull Co. Law Day

WARREN — The Trumbull County Bar Association will accept entries through April 6 for its annual Law Day contest.

The contest is open to all students in grades 1-12. Winners will receive a monetary prize and an award certificate.
