Three to be honored at Cattle Baron’s Ball


YOUNGSTOWN — The American Cancer Society has chosen “Denim to Diamonds” as the theme for its third annual Cattle Baron’s Ball on March 28 at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road.

The event will begin with a V.I.P. reception at 6 p.m. and will include such activities as celebrity karaoke, silent and Chinese auctions, assorted food stations, musical entertainment by the band Backbeat, a cash bar, a wine taste, informal modeling of Weiss Furs of Beachwood, and games of chance for entertainment only.

During the event three individuals will be singled out for recognition. Joe Mineo from Something New Florist and Rori Zoldan from B.J. Alan Fireworks Co. will be honored as cancer survivors, and Dr. Dean Ball from Tiffany Breast Care Center will be honored for his dedication and commitment to the fight against cancer.

Supporting cast

Members of the Diva and Gentlemen’s Club are selling tables for 8 or 10 for the event, collecting silent auction items, and acquiring sponsorships. Club members are Bridget Antonelli, Susan Blecher, Brian Bonilla, Pat Butto, Dr. Tera DePaoli, Lori DiTunno, Kathy Garritano, Stephanie Volpini-Hann, Marlene and Merv Hollander, Anna Mineo Howells, Lillie Johnson, Heather MIlligan, Toni Solarz, David Terpak, Julie Walsh and Sandy and Sam Zians. Diva chairwoman is Harriet Cohen.

Sponsors include Akron’s Children Hospital, Butler Wick Corp., Farmers National Bank, Humility of Mary Heath Partners, National City Bank and WFMJ-TV 21. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Proceeds from the evening will be used by The American Cancer Society for cancer research, education, advocacy and services to cancer patients.
